Do not force the door or attempt to adjust springs and cables. They can store significant force.
Safe checks first
Confirm the opener has power and try the wall control if it is safe to do so.
Look for an obstruction in the doorway or something blocking the safety sensors.
Note whether the motor runs, clicks, hums, or whether one side of the door moves differently.
If the door is heavy, uneven or the spring/cable system looks wrong, leave it in place and call a professional.
Ask these questions.
- Is there a service-call or diagnostic fee?
- Will you quote the repair before starting?
- Are parts and labor covered by a warranty?
- If a spring failed, will you inspect the paired components and cables?
