in the last weekLuxury Prices, Budget-Tier "Junk Fees" I’ve been a member here for some time, but the recent billing practices are a complete bait-and-switch. My monthly dues were recently hiked from $468 to $516—a significant jump that I accepted for the quality of the club. However, as of November, they’ve added a blatant $15 "surcharge" just for having an automated payment method on file. In what world does a member get penalized $15 a month for making the club’s billing easier? At $531/month, you expect a premium experience, not to be nickel-and-dimed with "convenience fees" that belong at a payday loan center, not a high-end athletic country club. It feels like they are banking on the fact that they have a waiting list to justify treating current members like ATMs. I’m currently looking into local consumer advocacy groups to highlight these predatory "junk fees" that many members might not even realize they are paying yet.
